1. Nick Helm
Beardy, bellowing and confrontational, “human car-crash of light entertainment” Helm is almost as scary as he is funny. The rock ’n’ ROFLer has twice been shortlisted for the Edinburgh Festival comedy award. This year’s show saw him arrive on stage dressed as Evel Knievel, crank up the heavy metal and bounce on a trampoline. He’s now graduating to TV, with a BBC Three pilot earlier this year. He also plays guitar and has a backing band called, naturally, "The Helmettes". Sample gag: "I needed a password eight characters long, so I picked Snow White and the Seven Dwarves."
