The 10 Best Bits From Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary Special

1. The Opening Credits

Proceedings got underway with the original 1963 credits. They faded to a policeman strolling past a sign for “ I.M. Foreman, Scrap Merchant, 76 Totter's Lane” -- the junkyard where it all started 50 years ago. And then to Coal Hill School in Shoreditch, where the Doctor’s first ever companions were teachers -- and where current sidekick Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman) was doing the same. Straight away, homage was paid to Who history, nerds were sated and we could get on with the show.
